Stonehill Athletic Hall of Fame Announces 2024 Class for Induction October 25

McLaughlin to join 2006 National Semifinalist team in Hall of Fame, along with National Champion and four All-Americans

EASTON, Mass. (September 25, 2024) – Stonehill College has announced four former student-athletes, a regional championship winning team and its head coach as members of its 33rd Athletic Hall of Fame class for induction in a ceremony at the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex on Friday, October 25, as part of Homecoming Weekend at the College.

Stonehill's 2024 Hall of Fame Class includes an individual National Champion in track & field, four All-Americans, three two-sport student-athletes as well as the 2006 NCAA East Regional Champion men's basketball program, along with its head coach that would win a program-record 189 games with five NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's first two regional titles and appearances in the NCAA National Semifinals over the course of his ten years in charge.

Tickets for the ceremony are available for purchase online at stonehillskyhawks.com/tickets through Wednesday, October 16, for $75.00 per person for adults and $40.00 for children ages 5-12. For all ticketing questions, please contact Colleen Ford, '93 at cford@stonehill.edu or 508-565-1384.

The ceremony will be held in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend at the College inside the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex, with a cocktail reception, including a cash bar and hors d'oeuvres, starting at 5:30 p.m. The induction ceremony to follow at approximately 7 p.m., with dessert, coffee, tea and a cash bar available following the induction ceremony.

  • Corey Thomas
    Corey Thomas '13
    Corey Thomas, Class of 2013 – Men's Track & Field
    • 2011 NCAA Indoor High Jump National Champion.
    • Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
    • Nine-time USTFCCCA All-American for high jump (indoor & outdoor) & 60-meter hurdles
    • Qualified for all eight NCAA Championships contested over his career.
    • Three-time USTFCCCA East Region Field Athlete of the Year.
    • Three-time Northeast-10 Athlete of the Year.
    • 15-time All-New England performer.
    • Five-time New England Champion.
    • 12-time NE10 Individual Champion – also key member of 2013 NE10 Indoor Team Champions.
    • Still holds all five school records in the individual events he competed in
    • Holds the top five 55-meter hurdles times in NE10 Indoor Championships history, & the fourth-fastest 60-meter hurdle time.
    • Holds four of the top ten indoor high jump heights in NE10 Championships history – including the second highest at 7-feet, 2.25-inches.
    • His school-record 110-meter high hurdles time of 14.32-seconds ranks eighth in NE10 Championships history, while owning three of the top ten outdoor high jump heights in NE10 Championship history, including No. 2 at 6-feet, 11.75-inches in 2012.

    Kate Sarkissian, Class of 2006 – Women's Lacrosse & Soccer
    • Two-sport student-athlete competing in lacrosse and soccer.
    • Four-time All-American in lacrosse.
    • 2004 IWLCA Division II & NE10 Defensive Player of the Year.
    • Four-time All-NE10 selection, with first team honors three times.
    • Member of two National Championship winning teams.
    • Helped Stonehill win NE10 regular season and tournament championships all four years as a defender.
    • Stonehill posted a 68-8 record overall, including a perfect 39-0 in the NE10 over her four-year career.
    • Team ranked in the top five nationally and Division II and led the NE10 in team goals against average all four years, leading Division II in 2004 and 2005, ranking second nationally in 2003.
    • Stonehill posted a Division II-best 4.10 team goals against in going 21-0 and capturing a second National Championship in 2005.
    • Four-year member of the women's soccer team as a midfielder/forward, finishing her career with seven goals and four assists for 18 points in 53 career games, finishing third on the team in scoring as a freshman.

    • 2005 Rawlings/ABCA Division II All-American pitcher.
    • 2005 Northeast Region Pitcher of the Year.
    • 2005 Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Year.
    • Three-time ABCA All-Region first team selection.
    • Three-time New England Intercollegiate All-Star Game participant as All-New England selection.
    • Three-time All-NE10 first team.
    • Fr. William Gartland, CSC Senior Student-Athlete Award recipient as a senior.
    • Set program records for strikeouts in a season and innings pitched.
    • Won 23 career games and struck out 286 in 294.0 innings over 54 career appearances with a 2.17 ERA and opposing batters hitting just .212 against him.
    • Stonehill qualified for NE10 Tournament all four years, reaching the final four site twice, including 2005 when it finished as runners-up.
 
 
  • Lindsay Pinkham, '11 - Field Hockey

    Lindsey Pinkham, Class of 2011 – Field Hockey/Track & Field
    • Two-sport athlete in field hockey and track & field over the course of her career.
    • Consensus All-American as a senior in field hockey.
    • Two-time All-Northeast-10 Conference selection, with first team honors as a senior in field hockey.
    • Earned All-NE10 honors for track & field.
    • Won indoor 800-meter championship (2:17.64) and was part of NE10 championship 4x800 relay (9:48.43) as a junior.
    • Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators, with a spot on the At Large first team.
    • NFHCA National Academic Squad member.
    • Midfielder was Stonehill's primary inserter on penalty corners, overseeing the unit which led Division II with 14.05 per game her junior year and ranked third nationally her senior year.
    • Started 68 of her 87 career games, finishing with 22 goals and 16 assists for 60 points, scoring seven game winning goals.
    • Was part of a school-record distance medley relay team as a sophomore.
    • Field Hockey posted a 61-26 overall record during her career, including 42-13 in the NE10, winning the 2009 NE10 Regular Season Championship and making two-straight NCAA Tournament National Semifinal appearances, including 2009 when the Skyhawks hosted the National Semifinals for the first time in program history.
    • Was a member of the 2010 Indoor Track & Field Team that finished second at NE10 Championships.

    • 27-7 Overall / 17-5 NE10 – program record for wins.
    • Captured program's first NCAA East Regional Championship, with an 89-80 victory over UMass Lowell at Merkert Gymnasium.
    • Reached National Semifinal Round at Elite Eight with 69-59 win over No. 13 Tarleton State in Springfield, Massachusetts.
    • Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season Champions.
    • NE10 Tournament Finalists.
    • Team featured three All-NE10 performers, including first team selection Marquis Taylor, '06, and third team picks Chris Kraus, '06 and Sean Nelson, '06.
    • NE10 Rookie of the Year (Nick Smith) & NE10 Coach of the Year (David McLaughlin)
    • Team posted a 12-game win streak, opening the year with 14 wins over its first 15 games, then finished with 13 wins in 15 games prior to the National Semifinal setback to eventual National Champions No. 5 Winona State.
    • Team finished ranked in the top ten nationally for team free-throw percentage and top 40 for scoring defense and field goal percentage defense, ranking 27th in three-point field goals per game.

    • Two-time NABC Northeast District Coach of the Year (2006 & 2010).
    • Two-time NE10 Coach of the Year (2006 & 2010).
    • Led the Skyhawks to a program-record 189 wins over ten years as head coach between 2004 and 2013.
    • Led Stonehill to a 189-99 (.656) record, including 135-80 (.630) in the NE10, with six 20-win seasons.
    • Guided Stonehill to five NCAA Tournament bids, including a program-best run of five-straight from 2008-2012, culminating with a second East Regional Championship and trip to the National Semifinals in 2012.
    • Reached the National Semifinals in 2006 & 2012, with Stonehill posting a program-record 27 wins in posting its first regional title in program history and Elite Eight trip during the 2005-06 season.
    • Captured NE10 Regular Season Championships in 2005-06 and 2009-10, winning the program's first NE10 Tournament title in 23 years in 2012.
    • Current head men's basketball coach at Dartmouth College.
Stonehill currently offers 23 varsity athletic programs that compete at the NCAA Division I level. The Skyhawks are in their third year as members of the Northeast Conference, while women's ice hockey competes in the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) and equestrian is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
