EASTON, Mass. – The Stonehill men's soccer team battled Central Connecticut State University to a 1-1 tie in NEC action late Thursday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Owen Burke registered his second goal of the season in the 46th minute.
- Burke and Shane Fonseca led the Skyhawks with five shots each.
- Cade Likhite made this third consecutive start in net, registering five saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks controlled the game from the opening kick, keeping possession just under 60% of the time in the first half. They looked poised to score midway through the first half with senior
Shane Fonseca firing back-to-back shots on net, but Brio Levitt came up with saves to keep the game scoreless.
Stonehill came out of the 15-minute halftime with renewed energy. Just over a minute into the second period, senior
Owen Burke fired a rocket from outside the 18 into the back of the goal to give the Skyhawks the lead.
They maintained the lead until the 62
nd minute. Central Connecticut's Anthony Catanzaro found the back of the goal for the equalizer.
