VESTAL, N.Y. (February 16, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team defeated Binghamton in a Northeast Conference dual match, 6-1, at the Lane-Stark Tennis Center, winning two of the three doubles courts and five of the six singles courts.
Highlights
- The duo of junior captain Anneliese Beltran (Mexico City, Mexico) and sophomore Julie Holte (Oslo, Norway) improved to 4-0 on the No.1 doubles court this spring, besting Clara Arbeloa Lopez and Caterina Casadei, 7-6.
- Freshmen Lilah Shallcross (Prospect, Ky.) and Arya Chabria (Columbus, Ohio) won their second consecutive double match and have won three of the past four, defeating Samantha Jaros and Kayla Castellano, 7-5. This was their first time playing together on the No. 2 court.
- Freshman Piper Remillard (Durham, Conn.) competed in her first match of the spring, pairing with sophomore Madison Warren (Frederick, Md.) on the doubles third court.
How It Happened
- Holte swept Loren Cuomo in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, on the first singles court.
- Warren won her singles match out of the No. 2 spot, defeating Arbeloa Lopez, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0, in third-set tiebreaker.
- Just like Holte, Shallcross had an undefeated day, winning her singles match on the third court, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, against Casadei.
- Beltran dropped her singles match to Jaros, 0-6, 5-7, on the fourth court.
- Sophomore Alice Brito do Rio (Angra do Heroismo, Portugal) won her singles match against Nitya Vyas, 6-2, 6-4, from the fifth singles position.
- Junior Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez (Medellin, Colombia) won her first singles match of the spring, defeating Castellano, 6-1, 6-2, on the No. 6 court.
