EASTON, Mass. (Feb. 23, 2026) – Freshman midfielder
Sophia Gouveia of the Stonehill women's lacrosse team has been honored as the NEC Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Gouveia, who hails from North Stonington, Conn., recorded two hat tricks last week, helping the Skyhawks go 2-0.
In the 12-9 victory over Rhode Island, Gouveia scored three times, grabbed four ground balls, caused four turnovers and added four draw controls. In the 14-5 win against Merrimack, Gouveia had her third hat trick in just four games this spring, had two draw controls and collected a ground ball.
In addition, Gouveia was selected as an NEC Prime Performer, while senior teammate
Nina Tremonte was tabbed NEC Defensive Player of the Week. Senior attacker
Grace Murphy and senior defender
Kalliopi Maniatis were also named NEC Prime Performers.
Stonehill (2-2, 0-0 NEC) hosts Bryant (2-2, 0-0 America East) on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.
