Baseball Stymied in Series Finale at VMI

Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. (March 1, 2026) – The Stonehill College baseball team concluded its four-game series at the Virginia Military Institute with a 7-0 defeat. With the result, the Skyhawks fell to 1-10 overall, while the Keydets improved to 10-2 on the season.

  • Junior Jamison Howland led Stonehill at the dish going 3-for-4, marking his first multi-hit performance as a member of the Skyhawks.
  • Juniors Nathan Kearney and Eisig Chin each recorded respective multi-hit games, as Chin increased his on-base streak to six straight games.
  • Sophomore Will Newton extended his hitting streak to a team-high five games after going 1-for-4 on the day.

How It Happened
After two and a half innings highlighted by five combined strikeouts from Stork and Connolly for the Skyhawks, VMI got on the board in the third. Grayson Fitzwater sparked the offense with a two-run home run to right field. Later in the inning, Cole Raile added an RBI single to right, extending the Keydets' lead to 3–0.

VMI added to its advantage in the fourth when Thomas Conrad delivered a run-scoring double, bringing home Cole Cook, who had reached on a leadoff walk earlier in the frame.

The Keydets put the game out of reach with two more runs in the seventh on RBI singles from Seth Buchanan and Conrad. Raile capped the scoring in the eighth with his second RBI single of the afternoon.

The Skyhawks managed to put a runner on base in the ninth but were unable to push a run across, as VMI secured the 7–0 shutout victory.
