EASTON, Mass. (April 20, 2026) – Freshman midfielder
Sophia Gouveia of the Stonehill women's lacrosse team has been selected as the NEC Rookie of the Week for the seventh time this season and second week in a row, the conference office announced Monday.
Gouveia, a native of North Stonington, Conn., also earned the award Feb. 23, March 2, March 9, March 23, March 30 and April 13. Joining her on the weekly awards is senior
Grace Murphy, who along with Gouveia were tabbed NEC Prime Performers. Murphy has been named an NEC Prime Performer six times, while Gouveia has taken that accolade home in three different weeks.
Gouveia earned the NEC Rookie of the Week accolades again after scoring a career-high five goals in the 14-7 win over LIU April 18. Gouveia also collected three ground balls, had three draw controls and caused a turnover.
Gouveia ranks second on the Skyhawks with 36 goals and is third with 41 points. She also paces the team with 78 draw controls.
Murphy, a product from Kearsarge, N.H., received Prime Performer honors after scoring a total of five goals and handing out one assist in the victory over LIU. Murphy also grabbed three ground balls and caused two turnovers. Murphy paces Stonehill with 56 goals and 68 points, and she surpassed the 200-point mark for her career against the Sharks.
