EASTON, Mass. (April 27, 2026) – Junior goalie
Nina Tremonte of the Stonehill women's lacrosse team has been selected as the NEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Tremonte, who hails from Brookfield, Conn., also earned the distinction on Feb. 23. Tremonte also brought home NEC Prime Performer honors after tying her season-high with 13 saves in the 13-5 win at Howard April 25. She also collected three ground balls in the victory.
Tremonte owns an 11-6 record with 145 saves and a 11.06 goals against average this season.
Joining her on the weekly awards is freshman
Sophia Gouveia, who earner her eighth nod as NEC Rookie of the Week.
Gouveia, a native of North Stonington, Conn., also earned the award Feb. 23, March 2, March 9, March 23, March 30, April 13 and April 20. Gouveia earned the NEC Rookie of the Week accolades again after recording a hat trick, six draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover against the Bison.
Gouveia ranks second on the Skyhawks with 39 goals and is third with 44 points. She also paces the team with 84 draw controls.
Stonehill, who earned a share of the NEC regular-season title, is the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament, hosted by No. 1 seed Le Moyne on Thursday, April 30 and Saturday, May 2. The Skyhawks (11-6) will face third-seeded LIU on Thursday at 3 p.m.
