EASTON, Mass. (April 28, 2026) – Freshman infielder
Armanis Romero of the Stonehill College baseball team has been named NEC Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
In addition to Romero's first career NEC weekly honor, junior
Nathan Kearney earned his third NEC Prime Performer recognition of the season.
Romero delivered a strong weekend at the plate against Coppin State, batting .454 (5-for-11) with a walk, two home runs, three stolen bases, five runs scored, and eight RBI. His performance was highlighted on Friday, when he drove in a career-high six RBI, including his first collegiate grand slam.
Kearney turned in a dominant week at the plate, hitting .625 (10-for-16) with two hit-by-pitches, three walks, five RBI, and seven runs scored. He extended his hitting streak to 11 games and his on-base streak to 30, while tallying three hits in seven of his last nine outings.
Stonehill (17-21, 14-7) travels to take on non-conference opponent Merrimack College today at 3 p.m., before returning to conference action this weekend with a three-game set at Le Moyne starting Friday at 3 p.m.
