Merrimack Defeats Stonehill 3-0

Mass. - Two goals from
Merrimack's Caitlin Hall led the Warriors over the Skyhawks, 3-0 on
Sunday. With the loss, fifth seeded Stonehill College was
eliminated from the Northeast-10 Tournment.
The scoring started midway through the first half when Caitlin
Hall deflected a shot from Lindsey DeMont 10 yards out. The
ball rolled by goaltender Alex Eckhardt
(Marshfield, Mass.) to the lower right corner of the net. The
score was Hall's sixth of the season.
Merrimack would score twice in the second half to secure the
victory. Hall would score her second goal of the night off a
cross from Amy Pelletier. The Warriors' Gabrielle Gramprey
would score minutes later off a touch pass from Pelletier, her
second assist of the game. Gramprey also scored earlier this
year in Merrimack's 1-0 over Stonehill in Easton.
The Warriors, who rank second in goals scored, were relentless
on offense. They out shot Stonehill 6-1 in the first half,
10-5 total.
Eckhardt registered six saves in defeat. The game was her
57th career start in net for the Skyhawks and 62 games
played.
The game marked the end of the road for seniors Lauren
Boyd (Sandwich, Mass), Hilary Eckhardt
(Marshfield, Mass.), Ashley Bourne (Brockton,
Mass.), Meghan O'Brien (Stow, Mass.), Erin
McLaughlin (Norwoord, Mass.), and Alex Eckhardt. The
six seniors will graduate in the spring of 2008.
