Skyhawks Take Down Penman 7-2
Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill women's tennis
team ran their winning streak to six games on Friday afternoon,
taking down previously unbeaten Southern New Hampsire 7-2 and
improving to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
The Skyhawks captured the momentum early, sweeping all three
doubles matches 8-6, 8-2 and 8-1 to grab the early 3-0 lead.
In the singles matches, No. 1 singles Lindsey Herchel (Hampden,
Mass.) lost in straight sets while No. 2 singles Amy
Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I.) split the first two sets
before dropping the third 10-8 in a super tiebreaker. No.3
singles Leah White (East Walpole, Mass.), No. 4
singles Caitlin Ryan (Medfield, Mass.), No. 5
singles Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass.) and No. 6
singles Lindsey Simmons (Wethersfield, Conn.) all
won in straight sets to seal the victory for Stonehill.
The Skyhawks return to action tomorrow when they take on
American International at 1:00 in Springfield.
