Waltham, Mass. - The Stonehill
men's tennis team improved to 4-0 in the Northeast-10 and 11-3
overall, as they took down conference rival Bentley 6-3 on Friday
afternoon in Waltham.
The match between the two clubs began Thursday, as the Skyhawks
swept all three doubles from the Falcons. As they began the
singles matches, rain started to fall and the match was postponed
until Friday.
In the singles matches Stonehill got a victory at No. 1 singles
from Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.) who won 6-2,
6-1. The Skyhawks other wins in singles came from
William Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) at No. 5 singles
and Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I.) at No. 6 singles.
Burke dropped the first set 6-0 but fought back to win the final
two, 6-2, 10-5.
The Skyhawks are in action on Saturday when they travel to take
on conference foe St. Michael's and then are back home on Sunday
against Le Moyne.
