Surging Skyhawks Stretch Streak To Nine

- With a doubles sweep and straight set wins in
their four singles victories, Stonehill extended its winning streak
to nine games with a 7-2 win over visiting Saint Michael's on
Saturday afternoon at Charles Watt Courts.
The Skyhawks improved to 12-2 with the win and remain atop the
Northeast-10 standings with an 8-0 league ledger.
In double action, Stonehill won all three matches, led by the
Lindsey Herchel (Hampden, Mass.)/Amy
Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I.) combination who picked up
an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, freshmen
Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass.) and Haley
McNeel (Brielle, N.J.) combined for an 8-2 win as well,
while junior Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y.)
and freshman Leah White (East Walpole, Mass.) took
an 8-6 victory at No. 2.
On the singles side, White won at No. 3, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) and
Hickey rolled at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2, while Caitlin
Ryan (Medfield, Mass.) (No. 4 - 6-1, 6-2) and
Lindsay Simmons (Wethersfield, Conn.) (No. 6 -
6-2, 6-1) picked up easy victories.
Stonehill returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to
Assumption for a 3:30 p.m. start.
