Sophomore Sarah Hickey was a double-winner again to lead
Stonehill past Merrimack on Tuesday.

Stonehill Tops Merrimack,
7-2
DURHAM, N.H. (April 13,
2010) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the most
recent NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, swept all three
doubles matches on its way to a 7-2 victory over Merrimack College
in Northeast-10 Conference women’s tennis action at the
University of New Hampshire this afternoon.
Sophomore Sarah Hickey
(Lee, Mass./Lee) and freshman Chelsea Haedrich
(Islip, N.Y./Islip) were both double-winners again for
Stonehill, teaming up for an 8-1 win at third doubles to cap a
Skyhawks sweep in doubles play – dropping just one game over
the three matches. Hickey notched her 31st-straight
singles victory without a defeat, as she didn’t drop single
game in cruising to the straight sets win. Haedrich also picked up
a 6-1, 6-4 victory at sixth singles.
Seniors Cristina Lucin
(Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and Caitlin Dunn (Middleton,
Mass./Masconomet) picked up the points for Merrimack with
wins at first and second singles, respectively, as Merrimack drew
within 3-2 in the match after being swept in doubles. Lucin posted
a 6-3, 6-1 win at first singles, while Dunn grinded out a 6-4, 7-6
(7-5) win at second singles.
Sophomore Lindsay Simmons
(Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) and freshman
Paige Frost (Brigantine, N.J./Holy Spirit) also
collected singles wins for Stonehill. Simmons posted a 6-3, 6-2 win
at third singles, while Frost was victorious, 6-3, 6-2.
Stonehill (13-2, 10-1 NE-10)
returns to action on Thursday when it visits American International
College for an NE-10 dual match at 3:30 p.m. The Skyhawks return
home for its final regular season home match of the year against
Saint Anselm College on Friday at 3 p.m. Merrimack (5-10, 5-5
NE-10) hosts Southern New Hampshire University on Friday at 3:30
p.m.
