Against AIC, 9-0
Skyhawks building momentum
into postseason with fourth-straight win
EASTON, Mass. (April 15,
2010) – Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the most
recent NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, coasted to its
fourth-straight victory with a 9-0 decision over American
International College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis
action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.
Senior Michael Mashkevich
(Goleta, Calif./Framingham (Mass.)) led the double-winners
for Stonehill, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles
after teaming up with junior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury,
Conn./Glastonbury) for an 8-0 sweep at first doubles.
Mashkevich improved to 10-0 in NE-10 dual matches this season.
Senior Mike Leone
(Cataumet, Mass./Cataumet), sophomores Jonathan
Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) and Aaron
Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) and freshman Chris
Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien) were also double-winners for
the Skyhawks who have also won eight of their last ten dual
matches. Bergeron's 7-5, 6-3 win at fourth singles improved
his NE-10 record this season to 10-0.
Stonehill (11-6, 8-2 NE-10) is
scheduled to close out the regular season tomorrow when it hosts
Saint Anselm College at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 3 p.m. Due to
