Skyhawks pick up
fifth-straight win heading into final regular season match
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April
15, 2010) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the
most recent NCAA Division II East regional rankings, cruised to its
fifth-straight win with a 9-0 victory at American International
College in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action this
afternoon.
Junior Emily Broderick
(Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug), sophomore Bacall
Brooks (York, Maine/ Saint Thomas Aquinas) and freshman
Jessica Martin (Pittsfield, Mass./St. Joseph
Central) were all double-winners for Stonehill on the
afternoon. Broderick and Brooks combined for an 8-2 win at first
doubles, while Brooks also posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory at third
singles and Broderick picked up a 6-0, 6-1 decision at fourth
singles. Martin didn't drop a single game in a straight sets
win at fifth singles after teaming up with freshman Kayla
Boyer (Worcester, Mass./St. Peter Marian) for an 8-0 win
at second doubles.
Freshman Paige Frost
(Brigantine, N.J./Holy Spirit) boosted her record in her
first collegiate season to 13-0 in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win
at first singles.
Stonehill (14-2, 11-1 NE-10) is
scheduled to return to action tomorrow for its final regular season
dual match of the year against Saint Anselm College at Charles Watt
