Bentley Defeats Stonehill,
7-2
Cava leads Falcons to sixth
win in last seven
WALTHAM, Mass. (April 8,
2010) – Bentley University, ranked third in this
week's NCAA Division II East Regional rankings swept all
three doubles matches on its way to a 7-2 victory over Stonehill
College, ranked sixth in the East Region, in Northeast-10
Conference men's tennis action this afternoon.
Senior Lorenzo Cava (Quito,
Ecuador) and sophomore Victor Suski (West
Hartford, Conn./William Hall) led the double-winners for
Bentley. The pair led the Falcons doubles sweep by rolling to an
8-2 victory at No. 1. Cava, the third-ranked singles performer in
the region by ITA, also topped reigning NE-10 Player of the Year
and 13th-ranked Tim Fayed (Glastonbury,
Conn./Glastonbury) with a 6-0, 6-2 decision at first
singles. Suski also notched a 7-1, 5-7, 10-6 victory at fourth
singles.
Senior Michael Mashkevich
(Goleta, Calif./Framingham (Mass.)) and sophomore
Aaron Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) picked up
points for Stonehill. Mashkevich won 6-4, 7-5 at second singles,
while Bergeron posted a 7-6, 2-6, 10-8 win at sixth singles.
Stonehill (7-6, 4-2 NE-10) returns
to action on Saturday when it visits Pace University for an NE-10
dual match at 11 a.m. The Skyhawks return home the next day to host
Adelphi University at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at noon. Bentley
(9-5, 7-0 NE-10) hosts Adelphi on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
