Senior Chris Martin didn't drop a game all afternoon in sweeping to singles and doubles wins today.

Four double-winners lead Skyhawks in first dual match of the season

Stonehill dropped just four games in sweeping doubles play and lost just a set in singles action to claim the victory. Senior Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien), juniors Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and Brett Armstrong (Manville, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) as well as sophomores Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) and Thomas Alaimo (North Andover, Mass./Central Catholic) were all double-winners for the Skyhawks.

Ringstad held off Saint Anselm freshman Chris Schwab (Seaford, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 in the best match of the afternoon. Ringstad and Hyzak teamed up to defeat Schwab and his older brother, sophomore Nick Schwab (Seaford, N.Y./Saint Anthony's), 8-4 at first doubles. Hyzak also claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hawks senior Joseph Zucchi (Methuen, Mass./Central Catholic) at No. 3 singles.

Alaimo defeated Nick Schwab 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles after teaming up with Armstrong for an 8-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles. Armstrong also claimed a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Saint Anselm senior Michael Hanna (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) at No. 5 singles. Martin breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over sophomore Kyle White (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge & Latin) at No. 4 after teaming up with sophomore Jared Drzal (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Stonehill (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Clark University for a non-conference dual match at 4:30 p.m. Saint Anselm (0-1, 0-1 NE-10) hosts Le Moyne College tomorrow at 9 a.m.
