Alaimo leads four double-winners for 5-0 Skyhawks
EASTON, Mass. (September 29, 2012) – Stonehill College remained unbeaten on the fall season with an 8-1 triumph over Saint Michael's College in non-conference men's tennis action at Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex this afternoon.
Sophomore Thomas Alaimo (North Andover, Mass./Central Catholic) led four double-winners for Stonehill as he picked up wins at No. 2 singles and doubles. He teamed up with junior Brett Armstrong (Manville, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) for an 8-3 doubles victory before claiming a 6-3, 6-2 win over Saint Michael's freshman Steve Thomson (Westport, Conn./Staples) in singles. Armstrong was also among the double-winners for the Skyhawks by posting a 6-1, 6-0 victory over freshman Charlie Merry (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunkport) at No. 5 singles.
Sophomore Jared Drzal (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and freshman Philip Klados (Lake Forest, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill after combining for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Klados followed that up with a 6-3, 6-2 win over senior Chris Moskal (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) at No. 3 singles. Drzal added a 6-2, 6-0 decision over junior Tom Brahm (Marlborough, Conn./Xavier) at No. 6.
Senior Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien) and sophomore Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) added points for Stonehill with wins at No. 4 and No. 1 singles, respectively.
Thomson and senior Eric Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C./Pinecrest) teamed up to claim a point for Saint Michael's as the duo topped Ringstad and Martin at No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (7-4).
Stonehill (5-0, 3-0 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Endicott College for a non-conference matchup at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 4:30 p.m. Saint Michael's (0-2, 0-2 NE-10) hosts Le Moyne College on Sunday, October 7, at 11 a.m.
