Women's Tennis Cruises Past Saint Rose, 8-1

Kump and Barbetta lead Skyhawks again, with singles and doubles wins 

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 4, 2015) – Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, claimed its fifth straight win with an 8-1 victory at The College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Kelton Courts this afternoon.

Senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and sophomore Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, New York/Saddlebrook Prep) led Stonehill to victory as double-winners for the second straight day. The teamed up for an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles and then Kump added a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 singles against Saint Rose senior Isabella Cubillos (Cali, Columbia). The Skyhawks held a 2-1 lead following doubles play and then sweep the six singles matches. Barbetta breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles against senior Paige Southwick (Champlain, New York/Northeastern Clinton).

Senior Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Massachusetts/Braintree) and sophomore Melissa Parker (Madison, Connecticut/Daniel Hand) clinched the Stonehill advantage following doubles play with their 8-3 win at No. 3. Senior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles against sophomore Averie Bowen (Pelham, New York/Pelham Memorial). Juniors Amanda DePasquale (Londonderry, New Hampshire/Londonderry) and Lorraine Smith (Littleton, Colorado/D'Evelyn) as well as sophomore Janet Haas (Northbridge, Massachusetts/Northbridge) each chipped in with singles wins for the Skyhawks.

Bowen and Cubillos teamed up to earn Saint Rose's lone point by way of an 8-3 decision at No. 1 doubles against Paradiso and senior Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, Rhode Island/The Lincoln School).

Stonehill (8-2, 7-1 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts the University of New Haven at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 3 p.m. Saint Rose (3-10, 1-7 NE-10) hosts Adelphi on Wednesday
