Box Score WEST POINT, N.Y. (September 15, 2024) – T The Stonehill College men's tennis team competed in the Army Black Knights Shootout Invitational this weekend in West Point, New York. Throughout the three-day event, the Skyhawks played singles and doubles matches against Army, Fairfield, Hofstra, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Marist, and Sacred Heart.

Stonehill registered four wins in singles competition throughout the weekend, with the sophomore duo of
Jacob Borch-Nielsen and
Alexis Chastang, junior
Mateo Mallen, and senior
Jacob Wilhelm Krefting each posting individual 1-2 records, respectively.
Chastang and Mallen earned victories on day one of the singles competition on Friday against Sacred Heart's sophomore
Percy Meehan and sophomore
Brennan Hart-Nova, respectively. Mallen took down Meehan in the No. 5 singles position, 6-3, 6-4, while Chastang defeated Hart-Nova, 7-6, 6-3 in No. 6 singles.
Borch-Nielsen, the team leader in singles and doubles wins a season ago, picked up his first victory of the season against Hofstra's No. 1 singles player, senior
Josh Reynolds. After Reynolds took the first set, 6-3, Borch-Nielsen battled back and took the final two sets, 6-4, 10-6.
During Sunday's final day of competition, Krefting earned his first win of the season against Fairfield's junior
Kostas Kollias. Krefting defeated Kollias, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 2 singles position to round out the Skyhawk's four singles victories on the weekend.
In doubles play, the Skyhawks posted an overall mark of 5-8, with junior
Mark Kröll and Krefting paving the way with a 2-2 record as a doubles pairing. Kröll and Krefting teamed up on Saturday to take down the Holy Cross duo of senior
Matt Maggiacomo and junior
Patrick Ling, 6-2, before earning their second doubles victory against graduate student
Augustin Damonte and freshman
Gregor Heinemann from Marist, 6-1, on Sunday.
Junior
Donovan Rodrigues had a strong weekend as a double teammate to Chastang and senior
Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé. Rodrigues and de Bénazé paired up on day one of the competition to defeat Lehigh's freshman
Nate Raney and senior
Luke Donovan, 6-1. Rodrigues and Chastang then earned their first victory as a double pairing on Saturday against the host pairing of sophomore
Preston Achterand senior
Michael Zhang from Army, 7-6.
Rounding out Stonehill's doubles competition victories over the weekend was Borch-Nielsen and freshman
Nicolas Arrendondo. The combination teamed up on Saturday to defeat the Holy Cross pairing of senior
Jeremy Clark and freshman
Lucas Bikkesbakker, 6. The win also marked the first of Arredondo's collegiate career.
