Box Score BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (September 24, 2024) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team competed in the Northeast Conference Fall Invitational this past weekend at the Lane – Stark Tennis Center in Binghamton, New York.

The Invitational was divided into six singles and three doubles flights, respectively. The individual winner and winning doubles pairing of the "A" flights qualified for the ITA National Championships.
Competing in the "A" doubles flight for Stonehill was the pairing of sophomore
Jacob Borch-Nielsen and freshman
Nicolas Arredondo, as well as senior
Jacob Wilhelm Krefting and junior
Mark Kröll.
Borch-Nielsen and Arredondo picked up their second win of the season as a double pairing in the opening round of 16 against Wagner's graduate Carlos
Rodriguez Gonzalez and
Leon Schmidt, 6-2, before falling in the quarterfinal round, 6-3, to sophomore
Tyler Nguyen and junior
Mathias Tremblay of Saint Francis University.
Despite losing a 6-2 decision to Binghamton's junior
William Morais Binnie and junior
James McPherson in the opening round on Friday, Kröll and Wilhelm Krefting battled back to earn a 6-2 victory in a consolation match against junior
Danylo Rekun and junior
Colm Schultz from Mercyhurst on Saturday.
Borch-Nielsen and freshman
Guillermo Bennaton also represented the Skyhawks in the "A" singles flights. Borch-Nielsen won his first match on Friday, 7-6, 6-2, over Rodriguez Gonzalez of Wagner College, before dropping his quarterfinal matchup in three sets, 6-7, 6-0, 10-8, to LIU's senior
Philip Hilble.
The Skyhawks posted nine individual victories throughout the remaining singles flights, which eventually included a pair of third-place finishes by Arredondo and Kröll in the "C" and "D" flights, respectively.
In addition to the two third-place finishes, junior
Donovan Rodrigues played his way into the final matchup in the "F" flight of singles competition. The junior out of Ellington, Conn., battled his way to victory through six sets in two matches against LIU's sophomore
Lucas Hornung and Mercyhurst's senior
Juan Carlos Hernandez Briones. However, Rodrigues would fall to Le Moyne's freshman
Navya Verma in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, on Sunday.
The first-year pairing of
Javier Gutierrez and Bennaton highlighted the remainder of the doubles competition throughout the weekend. The freshman duo played their way to the finals in the "B" doubles flight after taking down sophomore
Sviatoslav Koliadynski, freshman
Mykhailo Polishcuk of Mercyhurst, and freshman
Beau Walker and freshman
Kevin Titus Suresh of Saint Francis University. However, the pairing would fall to host Binghamton's combination of sophomore
Andre Ajed and senior
Zubin Omar in the finals, 6-4.
In addition, the doubles pairing of senior
Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé and Rodrigues swept their way through the "C" doubles flights to improve their season-opening winning streak to three straight matches. The duo defeated Mercyhurst's graduate student
Avik Agrawal and Hernandez Briones, 6-4, before taking down Wagner's junior
Sebastian Dobson and graduate
Gabrielle Zugarelli, 6-3.
