Havana De Roeck of the Stonehill field hockey team has been selected as the NEC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday. In addition, De Roeck and her sister,
Siena De Roeck, were tabbed as NEC Prime Performers.
Havana De Roeck, who hails from Brecht, Belgium, scored two goals and added an assist last week for the Skyhawks. In Stonehill's 5-1 victory over New Haven on Oct. 17, De Roeck netted the eventual game-winning goal at the 20:20 mark, as the Skyhawks picked up their fourth conference victory of the fall. De Roeck also assisted on a goal later in the game, and she found the back of the net in Stonehill's road contest at Sacred Heart on Oct. 19.
Siena De Roeck tallied two goals in the win over the Chargers, including converting a score on a penalty stroke in the second half. The De Roeck sisters are tied for the team lead with five goals and 11 points.
Stonehill sits at 4-11 overall and 4-3 in the NEC heading into a crucial conference game at home against Wagner (6-9, 5-2 NEC) at W.B. Mason Stadium on Friday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m.
