EASTON, Mass. (October 21, 2025) – Senior classmates
Maddi Achtyl and
Eve Stone of the Stonehill College women's hockey team have been named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Achtyl earns her first NEWHA Player of the Week honor since November 1, 2023, while Stone collects her first Goalie of the Week nod since February 20, 2024, when she posted 62 saves and a 1.00 goals-against average against Saint Anselm.
Achtyl powered the Skyhawks' offense over the weekend, scoring four goals across two games against Sacred Heart. Her standout performance included her first career hat trick, capped by an overtime game-winner on Friday night. She added another goal in Saturday's matchup, which proved to be the game-winning tally in Stonehill's 2-0 victory.
Stone anchored the Skyhawks defensively, turning in a 43-save shutout on Saturday to secure Stonehill's first sweep of the season. The senior netminder was exceptional throughout, coming up especially clutch in the third period by stopping 28 shots over the final 20 minutes of regulation. The performance marked the seventh shutout of her collegiate career and her first of the season.
Stonehill (2-3-0, 2-1-0 NEWHA) returns to action on Friday, October 24, hosting NEWHA rival Saint Anselm College at the Warrior Ice Arena in Boston at 7 PM.
