FAIRFIELD, Conn. (February 9, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team fell, 3-4, to Sacred Heart at the Tennis Club of Trumbull Sunday night.
Highlights
- For the third time this spring, the Skyhawks won two of the three doubles courts as junior captain Anneliese Beltran (Mexico City, Mexico) and sophomore Julie Holte (Oslo, Norway) improved to 3-0 in the past three matches, defeating Ola Irla-Bartyzel and Aina Garriga Martinez, 6-1, on the first court.
- After dropping yesterday's doubles match, freshmen Lilah Shallcross (Prospect, Ky.) and Arya Chabria (Columbus, Ohio) won on the third doubles court, 6-4, beating the Pioneers pairing of Malena del Olmo and Olivia Zuba.
- Shallcross had an undefeated evening, winning her singles match on the third court, 6-2, 6-3, besting Kiah James.
How It Happened
- Sophomores Madison Warren (Frederick, Md.) and Alice Brito do Rio (Angra do Heroismo, Portugal) fell on the second doubles court as Hana Hofmanova and Olivia Kharkover defeated them, 3-6.
- Holte lost her singles match in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 4-6, to Irla-Bartyzel on the No. 1 court.
- Warren fell on the second court to Garriga Martinez, 4-6, 2-6.
- Sacred Heart won on the number four court as Beltran dropped her singles match to Hofmanova, 2-6, 1-6.
- Chabria was bested in a nearly two-hour long match against Kharkover, 4-6, 3-6.
