Baseball Lands Five All-NEC Selections Ahead of Postseason Play

EASTON, Mass. (May 21, 2025) – Five members of the Stonehill College baseball team have been named to All-Northeast Conference (NEC) teams, the league announced Wednesday afternoon, following a standout 18-12 conference campaign that earned the Skyhawks a spot in the NEC Postseason Tournament.

Sophomore Grayson Sparr headlined the group, earning NEC Rookie of the Year and a spot on the All-NEC First Team. He was joined on the First Team by graduate student Jack Thorbahn, junior Aidan Cohall, and sophomore Aidan Sengenberger. Sophomore Ryan LeClair capped Stonehill's honors with a selection to the All-NEC Second Team.

Sparr becomes the first major award winner in Stonehill baseball history since the program joined the NEC in Fall 2022. The selections of Thorbahn, Cohall, Sengenberger, and LeClair also mark the first postseason All-NEC honors for the Skyhawks in their NCAA Division I era.

The last Skyhawks to earn All-Conference recognition were Blaine Lidsky '24, Jack Marshall '24, Peter Haas, and Taylor Gaspar, who were honored by the Northeast-10 Conference following the 2022 season. Haas was named NE10 Northeast Division Rookie Pitcher of the Year and, along with Gaspar and Marshall, earned spots on the All-Rookie Team. Lidsky was the most recent First Team honoree, earning NE10 First Team Utility honors.

After missing his freshman season due to injury, Sparr made an immediate impact in 2025, appearing in 48 of the team's 50 games. He ranked among the team's top three in batting average (.348), OPS (1.055), hits (56), RBI (48), total bases (95), and slugging percentage (.590). Sparr also posted 16 multi-hit games—including one of only two four-hit games on the season—and 13 multi-RBI performances.

Thorbahn had a career year at first base, earning his first All-Conference recognition. A four-time NEC Prime Performer, Thorbahn led the conference with 16 home runs and ranked among the top three in slugging percentage (.652), OPS (1.120), runs scored (54), and total bases (118). He posted a .320 batting average, fueled by a career-high 58 hits—including 12 doubles.

Despite missing time early in the season due to injury, Cohall closed the regular season on a torrid pace, recording 13 multi-hit games in the final 17 contests. Over that stretch, he hit .472 with 10 doubles, six home runs, and 37 RBI. His final season numbers—.376 batting average, .723 slugging percentage, 1.165 OPS, 59 RBI, 18 doubles, and 14 home runs—ranked among the NEC's top three in each category.

Sengenberger earned First Team honors after a breakout season both offensively and defensively. Defensively, he ranked in the top five in the NEC with 13 runners caught stealing. At the plate, Sengenberger improved his batting average by nearly 200 points from last year, jumping from .145 in 2024 to .331 in 2025—third-best on the team. He also ranked top five on the team in hits (47), walks (29), slugging (.486), OBP (.449), and triples (1).

LeClair was a consistent presence in the lineup, highlighted by a 26-game on-base streak entering postseason play. He posted career highs in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.288), runs (45), hits (46), doubles (11), home runs (3), RBI (36), walks (26), HBP (16), and stolen bases (16). His 16 steals rank in the NEC's top 10 and are the most by a Skyhawk since senior Sam Parks recorded 17 in 2023.

Stonehill wrapped up the regular season with an overall record of 20-30, including an 18-12 mark in NEC play—clinching the program's first-ever NEC Postseason Tournament berth since transitioning to Division I. The Skyhawks reached the 20-win plateau for the first time in their Division I era and established themselves as one of the nation's premier power-hitting teams, finishing with 80 home runs—ranking 38th nationally and first in the NEC.

On March 11, the team blasted a program-record 10 home runs in a single game against VMI—becoming one of just three Division I programs to accomplish that feat this season.

Stonehill enters the NEC Postseason Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will face top-seeded Long Island University in the opening round. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM at Heritage Financial Park in Wappingers Falls, New York.
