EASTON, Mass. (September 22, 2025) – Stonehill College women's soccer senior forward
Hannah Anselmo and sophomore goalkeeper
Allie Sougaris have been named the NEC Co-Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
In addition to the two major weekly honors, Anselmo, Sougaris, and junior
Kayla Cassidy were all recognized as NEC Prime Performers for their standout contributions over the week of competition.
Anselmo highlighted the Skyhawks' strong week by propelling the squad to a decisive 5-1 victory over Saint Francis University on Sunday. She recorded the first hat trick of Stonehill's NCAA Division I era—and the program's first overall since Camryn Thompson netted three against Maine Fort Kent on October 16, 2021. With six goals this season, Anselmo now leads the NEC in goals (6), shot attempts (35), and points per game (1.33), while ranking among the nation's top 30 goal scorers.
Sougaris posted a 2-0 record in goal as Stonehill opened NEC play with wins over New Haven and Saint Francis. She allowed just one goal in each contest while totaling six saves on the week, raising her season mark to 35 saves—good for fourth in the conference.
Cassidy fueled the Skyhawks' attack with her first career two-goal game in Thursday's win over New Haven, then added an assist in Sunday's victory against Saint Francis. She now ranks second on the team and fifth in the NEC with seven points on three goals and one assist.
Stonehill (2-5-2, 2-0-0 NEC) returns to action on Thursday, traveling to Teaneck, New Jersey to take on FDU. Kick off between the Skyhawks and Knights from University Stadium is set for 4:00 PM.
