WINTHROP, Mass. (January 13, 2026) – Sophomore defender
Reagan Whynot of the Stonehill College women's hockey team has been named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Whynot paved the way for the Skyhawks' offensive effort over the weekend, helping lead Stonehill to a two-game sweep of Saint Anselm College. The sophomore totaled four points on three goals and an assist, including two power-play goals scored during a four-minute span in the third period of Saturday's series finale.
She also posted a +1 on-ice rating and recorded 10 shots on goal across the weekend, highlighted by a career-high eight shots in Saturday's contest. Whynot's lone assist came on senior
Bailey Feeney's goal in the opening frame on Friday, which ultimately stood as the game-winning tally.
Continuing a career year, Whynot now ranks third on the team with 16 points on six goals and 10 assists. Her six goals are tied for second on the squad alongside junior forward
Makenna Slocum, trailing only senior
Maddi Achtyl, whose 13 goals rank second in the NEWHA.
Stonehill (10-11-1, 10-5-1 NEWHA) returns to action next weekend on the road, traveling to Fairfield, Connecticut for a two-game series against Sacred Heart University.
