Douglas Tabbed NEC Pitcher of the Week; Kearney Named Prime Performer

EASTON, Mass. (March 17, 2026) – Graduate student Ryan Douglas of the Stonehill College baseball team has been named NEC Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. In addition to his weekly honor, Douglas also earned NEC Prime Performer recognition alongside junior Nathan Kearney.

Douglas delivered a standout performance on the mound in the Skyhawks' second game at Maryland Eastern Shore, tossing 8.0 shutout innings against the Hawks. He allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out two. Over the course of his outing, Douglas permitted only two UMES baserunners to reach scoring position.

The shutout marked Stonehill's first since April 4, 2025, when the Skyhawks defeated FDU, 2-0. His effort also represented the longest outing by a Stonehill starter since sophomore Hunter Bell went 8.2 innings against Coppin State on May 3, 2025.

Kearney put together an impressive week at the plate, batting .500 (8-for-16) with one run scored, two doubles, three walks, and eight RBI. He was especially dominant in Friday's contest at UMES, going 5-for-6 with six RBI to fuel a comeback in Stonehill's 20-17 victory. His five-hit performance marked the most by a Skyhawk in a single game since Taylor Gaspar recorded five hits against Central Connecticut on March 29, 2024.

Stonehill (3-11, 2-1 NEC) returns to action tomorrow with a midweek matchup at the University of Rhode Island. First pitch at Bill Beck Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
