EASTON, Mass. (March 9, 2026) – Freshman midfielder
Sophia Gouveia of the Stonehill women's lacrosse team has been selected as the NEC Rookie of the Week for the third time in a row, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Gouveia, who hails from North Stonington, Conn., also earned the award Feb. 23 and March 2. Joining her on the weekly awards this week is senior
Grace Murphy, who was tabbed an NEC Prime Performer.
In Stonehill's two games last week, Gouveia had four goals, and assist and 10 draw controls. In the 14-8 win over New Hampshire Wednesday, Gouveia scored a goal, handed out an assist and added two ground balls and two draw controls. At UC Davis Saturday, Gouveia recorded a hat trick and tied her career-high with eight draw controls.
Through seven games, Gouveia leads the Skyhawks with 27 draw controls and is second with 14 goals and 18 points.
Stonehill (3-4, 0-0 NEC) is back in action later today at California (3-5, 1-3 ACC) at 6 p.m. EST (3 p.m. PST).
