EASTON, Mass. (March 30, 2026) – Freshman midfielder
Sophia Gouveia of the Stonehill women's lacrosse team has been selected as the NEC Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this spring, the conference office announced Monday.
Gouveia, who a product of North Stonington, Conn., also earned the award Feb. 23, March 2, March 9 and March 23. Joining her on the weekly awards is sophomore
Neave Bowman, freshman
Taylor Green and senior
Grace Murphy, who were honored as NEC Prime Performers.
Gouveia continued her stellar freshman campaign with a goal, three ground balls and five draw controls in the win over Central Connecticut State March 25, before adding four goals, a caused turnover, a ground ball and a career-best 13 draw controls in the victory at Mercyhurst March 28.
Bowman, who hails from Massapequa, N.Y., scored two goals and dished out three assists for five points against Central Connecticut State. She then amassed a career-high seven points on two goals and a career-best five assists at Mercyhurst.
A native of Pelham, N.Y., Green recorded a hat trick and collected a career-high three ground balls, to go along with a career-best five draw controls, against Central Connecticut State. Green then tallied a career-best five goals, picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers at Mercyhurst.
Murphy, a native of Kearsarge, N.H.,netted two goals and handed out two assists against Central Connecticut State. Murphy then capped the week with a career-high seven goals and grabbed a ground ball at Mercyhurst.
Stonehill (6-6, 3-1 NEC) will visit FDU (7-5, 3-1 NEC) on Saturday, April 4 at 12 p.m.
