WEST POINT, N.Y. – In their first meeting in program history, the Stonehill men's soccer team battled one of their toughest opponents, Army, to a 2-2 tie on Thursday evening.
 
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS

• Freshman forward Killian Doherty scored a goal and an assist for three points.
• Junior Nate Monteiro scored his first goal of the season in the 27^th minute to give the Skyhawks the lead.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Felix van der Hagen registered six saves in net
• Freshman Bryan Mayhew played solid defensively to keep Army on its toes.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks drew first blood early in the game, finding the back of the net in the 10^th minute. Senior Chris Hines showed a little bit of creativity from the top of the 18 with a pass off his back heel to freshman Killian Doherty  to give Stonehill the 1-0 lead.
 
After Army tied the score in 24^th minute, the Skyhawks answered. Doherty connected with junior Nate Monteiro for his first goal of the season to put Stonehill back on top, 2-1.
 
Stonehill maintained pressure on Army and kept them off the scoreboard. However, with less than a minute left in the game Army knotted game up at two, sneaking the equalizer just past the stretch of sophomore goalkeeper Felix van der Hagen.

Stonehill remains unbeaten, moving to 2-0-2 on the season and return to the pitch on Labor Day, September 7 when they travel to Hanover, N.H. to face Dartmouth at 5 p.m.
