- Behind strong singles play and three wins in
doubles, Stonehill cruised to its sixth straight win, a 9-0
decision over host Saint Michael's on Saturday afternoon at St.
Michael's Outdoor Courts.
With the win, the Skyhawks improve to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in
Northeast-10 action.
After picking up three wins in doubles, the singles matches all
went in favor of Stonehill, led by sophomore Tim Fayed
(Glastonbury, Conn.), who picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at No.1.
Junior Michael Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass.)
posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 and he was followed by Mike
Leone (Cataumet, Mass.), who won at No. 3 with relative
ease (6-0, 6-0).
Other winners included seniors Jason Allegretti
(Lincoln, R.I.) at No. 4, William Herchel
(Hampden, Mass.) and sophomore Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I.) at No.5
and No.6 respectively.
The Skyhawks return to the courts on Sunday, when they host
LeMoyne beginning at 1:30 p.m.
