Skyhawks Victorious In NE-10 Tourney Tune-up

Easton, Mass. - The Stonehill
men's tennis team continued their impressive play this year, moving
within one win of matching the school record for victories in a
season (18), as they dispatched of Division III Springfield College
8-1 on Monday afternoon.
The game was a tune-up for the Skyhawks in preparation for the
NE-10 tournament beginning on Tuesday and Stonehill didn't
disappoint, taking all three doubles matches to grab and early 3-0
lead on the Pride.
In singles play, sophomore Tim Fayed
(Glastonbury, Conn.) won his 14th straight match, this
one in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Junior Mike
Mashkevich (Framingham), sophomore Mike
Leone (Cataumet, Mass.) and seniors Jason
Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I.) and Will
Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) all came away victorious in
straight sets as well.
Stonehill returns to action on Tuesday when they host Assumption
in the quarterfinals of the NE-10 tournament with game time set for
3:00 p.m.
