Stonehill Defeats Saint Rose, 8-1
White leads Skyhawks to
first team win of season with singles and doubles

Mass. (September 26, 2009) - Stonehill College opened
defense of its Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis championship
by posting an 8-1 victory over The College of Saint Rose at Charles
Watt Tennis Courts today.
Sophomore Leah White
(Walpole, Mass./Bishop Feehan) was a double-winner to lead
Stonehill to its 13th-straight NE-10 regular season win.
She posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles after teaming up
with classmate Bacall Brooks (York, Maine/Saint Thomas
Aquinas) for an 8-3 decision at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Lindsay Simmons
(Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) posted a 6-0, 6-3
decision at No. 3 singles for the Skyhawks, while freshmen
Jacqueline Harrow (North Reading, Mass./North
Reading) and Chelsea Haedrich (Islip,
N.Y./Islip) both notched singles wins at No. 4 and No. 5,
respectively, for the Skyhawks.
Freshman Jennifer Crego
(West Shokan, N.Y./Onteora) picked up the lone point for
Saint Rose with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
Stonehill (1-0, 1-0 NE-10) is back
in action on Wednesday when it hosts Franklin Pierce University at
6 p.m. Saint Rose (0-5, 0-4 NE-10) visits Adelphi University next
Saturday at noon.
