Fayed and Hyzak lead list
of five double-winners for Skyhawks
EASTON, Mass. (October 2,
2010) – Stonehill College posted an 8-1 victory over
Salve Regina University in a non-conference men's tennis matchup on
Alumni Weekend at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.
Senior Tim Fayed
(Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) led a list of five
double-winners for Stonehill, teaming up with freshman Nick Hyzak
(Guilford, Conn./Guilford) for a 9-7 doubles victory
before defeating Salve Regina freshman Chad Strong (San
Diego, Calif./Francis W. Parker) 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1
singles. Hyzak also won both of his matches, claiming a 6-1, 6-0
win at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore Chris Martin
(Dairen, Conn./Darien) and junior Aaron Bergeron
(Gorham, Maine/Gorham) won an 8-2 decision at No. 2
doubles, and each followed with a singles victory, Martin a 6-1,
6-1 win at No. 3 and Bergeron by a 6-0, 6-0 score at No. 5.
Freshman Conor Fallon (Old Lyme,
Conn/Lyme-Old Lyme) also picked up two wins, an 8-0
victory with Jonathan Burke
(Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) at No. 3 doubles, and a
6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Sophomore Zachary Rosenfeld
(Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow) was the lone winner for Salve
Regina, topping Burke 6-4, 7-6 at No. 2 singles.
Stonehill (3-1, 1-1 NE-10) returns
to action tomorrow for another non-conference dual match Curry
College at 1 p.m. Salve Regina (0-3, 0-1 CCC) next plays at the
Stonehill Invitational next Saturday and Sunday.
