Skyhawks to second-straight win
MILTON, Mass. (October 4,
2010) – Stonehill College picked up its second win
in as many days with a 9-0 triumph over Curry College in
non-conference men's tennis action on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Tim Fayed
(Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) led a group of four
double-winners for Stonehill as he posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory over
Curry sophomore Gregory Kirschner (Williston Park,
N.Y./Herricks) at No. 1 singles after combining with
freshman Nick Hyzak (Guilford,
Conn./Guilford) for an 8-3 win at first doubles. Hyzak was
also a double-winner, picking up a 6-4, 6-0 win at third
doubles.
Junior Aaron Bergeron
(Gorham, Maine/Gorham) and sophomore Chris Martin
(Darien, Conn./Darien) were also double-winners for the
Skyhawks, combining to post an 8-1 win at second doubles. Martin
also claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles, while Bergeron
posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3.
Stonehill (4-1, 1-1 NE-10) returns
to action next weekend when it hosts its Stonehill Invitational on
Saturday and Sunday. Curry falls to 0-1 following the
season-opening loss.
