George Mason Singles Out
Stonehill, 4-2
HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 9,
2010) – George Mason University took five of six
singles matches after dropping two of three in doubles play to post
a 4-2 victory over Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the ITA
Division II East Regional rankings, in non-conference men's
tennis action this morning.
Freshman Kevin McMillin
(Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) was a double-winner for
George Mason, posting a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles after
teaming up with sophomore Jorge Osuna (Bentonville,
Va./Colegio San Jose) for an 8-1 win at second doubles.
Junior Tim Fayed
(Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), the reigning
Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, was a double-winner for
Stonehill. He collected a 7-5, 6-3 win over Osuna at first singles
after teaming up with senior Michael Mashkevich (Goleta,
Calif./Framingham (Mass.)) for an 8-5 triumph at first
doubles.
Stonehill picked up a point in the
dual match by winning two of the three doubles matches, when
sophomore Aaron Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham)
and freshman Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien)
grinded out a 9-8 (8-6) win at third doubles.
Stonehill (3-4, 1-0 NE-10) is back
in action tomorrow night when it battles Tusculum University at
6:30 p.m.
