ATLANTA, Ga. (March 9, 2026) – Graduate defenseman
Evan Orr of the Stonehill College men's hockey team has signed a professional contract with the Atlanta Gladiators, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Nashville Predators, the organization announced Monday evening.
"We're very excited for Evan to sign with Atlanta. It's a well-earned and well-deserved opportunity for him," head coach
David Berard said. "Evan made an immediate impact on our program from the moment he stepped on campus two years ago. Whether it was his standout play on the ice, his achievements in the classroom or his leadership within the team, Evan has left an incredible mark on our program."
"The positive steps we've taken over the past two years were significantly influenced by the player and person Evan is," Berard added. "We're excited to watch him fulfill his dream of playing professionally in the ECHL, and I'm confident he'll make the same kind of impact there that he made here."
Orr established himself as one of the Skyhawks' top two-way defensemen during his two seasons with the program. He totaled 33 points on 13 goals and 20 assists in 62 games.
Five of Orr's 13 goals were game-winners, including four that came in overtime, highlighting his ability to deliver in key moments. He also recorded 98 blocked shots during his time with the Skyhawks.
A two-time NCAA Division I Independent All-Star, Orr was most recently named the NCAA Division I Independent Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
He joins a Gladiators team that currently sits fourth in the ECHL standings with 73 points and a 35-16-2-1 record this season, where he will also reunite with former Stonehill teammate
Cameron Gaudette '25.
