EASTON, Mass. (August 17, 2026) – Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Hamel of the Stonehill College women's soccer team has been named the NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

In addition to earning Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors, Hamel was named an NEC Prime Performer, marking the first weekly accolades of her collegiate career.

Hamel posted a 0.50 goals-against average and an .833 save percentage through the first two games of the season against New Hampshire and Bryant. She recorded two saves against the Wildcats in Thursday's season opener before earning her first career shutout with a three-save performance against the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Stonehill (0-0-2, 0-0-0) has opened its 2026 season with two consecutive draws for the first time in at least the last 30 years. The Skyhawks continue their slate on Wednesday, traveling to Worcester, Massachusetts, for a non-conference matchup against Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
