EASTON, Mass. – The Stonehill volleyball team dropped a non-conference contest to Holy Cross, 3-0, on Tuesday evening.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Sam Loyd posted a .407 attack percentage tallying 15 kills on 27 attempts with just four errors to go along with two total blocks – one solo, one assisted.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks came out of the gate strong, building themselves an 11-9 lead behind sophomore
Haley Herndon. But Holy Cross mounted a comeback and swung momentum back over to their side to take the first set, 25-17.
Sophomore
Sam Loyd gave the Skyhawks an early lead with a solo block to put Stonehill in front, 4-2, but another late Crusader run helped them take a two-match advantage with a 25-13 win in set two.
In the third frame, the Skyhawks remained resilient and continued to be a thorn in the side of the Crusaders. A kill by Loyd brought Stonehill back to within two points, 18-16, late but it was as close as they would get.
