Brockton High's outstanding football coach, Armond C.Colombo graduated from Brockton High School in 1949. He graduated from Stonehill College in 1955 as a Liberal Artsmajor.  Armond began his coaching and teaching career atArchbishop Williams High School in Braintree in the fall of1955.  He was head coach for 20 of Brockton's gloryyears.  His teams won five Catholic Conference titles atArchbishop Williams along with three Class D Championships. He came to Brockton in 1969, posting a 3-6 record the first yearand a 9-0 record the following fall.  The Boxers wentto nine Super Bowls, winning six.  BHS was also Class AChampion in 1970.  Colombo's teams won 15 Suburban Leaguetitles in 20 years. including 10 straight.  He has beenselected Boston Globe Division One Coach of the Year fourtimes.   In 29 years, Colombo's teams have posted 220wins against 48 defeats and four ties.  He coached nineundefeated teams at Brockton after having seven undefeated teams atArchbishop Williams.  He was selected by the national coachesas Regional Coach of the Year in 1984.  During his 20 years atBHS, Armond coached all five of his sons, with Peter quarterbackingtwo undefeated teams and a Super Bowl winner; Chuck winning the1980 Super Bowl and son Tom winning two Super Bowls.  SonsDonald and Danny played backfield on the first title team. Colombo's teams won 26 straight before losing to Leominster in1988, but finished with their sixth Super Bowl title.
