A 1985 graduateof Stonehill College and a resident of providence, R.I.,Mary Anne Walsh finished her basketball careerwith 1,322 points, sixth on the all-time Stonehill list. Her No. 20jersey was the third one to be retired. In addition to herbasketball exploits, Mary Anne was a superb softball player forcoach Fred Petti. She was All-Conference in 1985 and the NE-8Player of the Year in that same season. She was also named asecond-team All-American.

During herbasketball career, her Lady Chieftains won 81 games, while losingonly 34 and capturing the NE-8 championship in 1983. Her team alsoreceived a bid to the NCAA New England Regionals in 1983.

On the softballfield, Walsh’s teams had just as much success, posting an82-32 record spanning four years, winning the MAIAW StateChampionship in 1982 and 1983, and closing out her career in theECAC Tournament in 1985. Walsh was an outstanding contributor tothis team, batting .388 with seven doubles, six triples and twohome runs.
