A 1983 Stonehill graduate, Sharon Donovan led theLady Chieftains softball team to three consecutive statechampionships, compiling a four-year team record of 68-21. She hit.351 in her career, and posted a 10-10 pitching record with astingy 2.53 earned run average. Sharon also played women’sbasketball for two years before a knee injury restricted her tosoftball. Sharon was honored by being selected Converse First-TeamAll-American Division II in her junior year. In 1981, Sharonpitched a no-hitter against the Bentley Falcons. In that samespring, Sharon hurled a four-hitter to beat Holy Cross for theState Championship. She also hit the game-winning single in theseventh inning. As a freshman, Sharon hit back-to-back grand slamsin the same inning against Curry College. She hit a career-high.463 during her freshman year.

Sharon, who was a business major,is an assistant vice president for State Street Bank of Boston.Sharon, who lives in her native Abington, was pleased with herselection to the Hall of Fame. She is the second woman athlete tobe chosen. “The bank where I’m employed has a lot ofrespect for Stonehill academics. I agree. Stonehill gave me theopportunity to get an excellent education. We had a nice balancebetween academics and athletics,” said Sharon.
