Bill Nixon was a 1953 Stonehill graduate fromBrockton who went on to a brilliant 37-year coaching career atOliver Ames High School in Easton. Since 1970, Bill has been theO.A. basketball coach, following his best friend, the late ValMuscato, who retired after 300 victories. Bill joined his friend asa 300-game winner in 1990. Bill, who is retired as a social studiesteacher, remains active as a coach. Bill’s teams have won 11Hockomock League Championships and have been Division II Southfinalists three times. Between 1974-77, Nixon’s Tigers won 38consecutive Hockomock League games. Since he became head coach,Nixon’s Oliver Ames’ teams have never had a losingseason.

As a junior varsity coach, Bill’s teams won 222 games,losing only 49. His J.V.’s won an Oliver Ames record 42straight games. He coached O.A. football with Muscato and hissuccessors for 23 years before retiring in 1978. However, Billreturned to coach football in 1988. Bill, who was Stonehill classpresident in 1951-52, is the father of eight children and lives inEaston with his wife, Helen.
