A premier shooterand rebounder and good baseball player, GeorgePeterson, a 1964 graduate, died in 1988. His teammatesremember his corner jump shots that made him a career 1,604-pointscorer. Peterson was an explosive scorer and led the Chieftains toseveral outstanding seasons. He was selected by Catholic Digest asStonehill’s first All Catholic All American. As a sophomore,George received honorable mention on The Associated Press All NewEngland Team. A math major, George taught mathematics at NassauCommunity College on Long Island. He earned his MBA from St.John’s University in 1971. He soon moved to Citibank, wherehe became vice president of investment and banking. He went on tobecome vice president at Westpac Pallock Co. His wife, MaryCatherine, and his daughters Karen and Kristen currently live inGlen Head, N.Y.
